1985/1986, Barcelona
Due to the unexpected death of her companion in 1984, the also painter Xavier Vidal i Banchs, Bacardit changes the subject of her work and finds inspiration on the accidental changes of the life.
She starts painting by night instead of during the day and changes the palette using dark tonalities and earthy colors (siena toast, black and white). She makes a series based on "The Disasters of War" by Goya and paints from pictures of accidents taken from the newspapers.
The first of the works displayed in this page was exposed in the "Sample of Young Art" in Madrid in 1985. It is her first painting where chiaroscuro, shadows, shades, absence and the presence of death show up.
The second work is based on one of the engravings by Goya.
